Born and raised by the seaside of Sweden, I fell in love with fashion at an early age. I had a vision of being able to make beautiful garments that my family could afford however this love story has been one of ups and downs and more than a little heartache.
After studying fashion in both my home county and London and then interning at a large fashion house, I began to realise the reality of the fashion industry.
When you see what fashion is like behind the scenes, you realise how bad it is. I was particularly struck by how much pollution fashion creates. Sadly, I fell out of love with the industry as a result.
Fast forward 5 years and I found myself sketching in a friend's kitchen and it reminded me of why I fell in love with fashion in the first place - the artistry, the craftsmanship and the creative process. I began to hand draw and stitch garments and it was then that I started to enjoy making fashion again.
INGMARSON was born by Robert Ingemarsson in the summer of 2017 as an antidote to fast fashion and to provide an affordable option in the sustainable fashion space.
All of our cotton garments are certified as 100% GOTS certified organic.
100% of the raw materials for our embroidery threads come from sustainable forestry and are pollutant-free, and along with the backing used for embroidery, are certified according to STANDARD 100 by OEKO-TEX®, come from ISO-approved processes, are free from APO/ PE plasticisers.
Our wool is sourced from Italy by a spinner who is among the few spinners able to control directly its entire supply chain. Origin, traceability and compliance to the standards of Textiles & Health are certified and guaranteed.
Our packaging is made from 90% recycled material and is fully recyclable and has been printed using water-based ink.
We are conscious that the production of garments has waste, and to minimise this, we recycle waste yarn back into the knitting process, and we upcycle waste yarn by using it to attach our swing tags.
Garments are embroidered on demand locally in London, and our woollen scarves are knitted on-demand by our sister company, EcoKnitware in London. Our on-demand production ensures we only produce garments that are needed and never have stock that is not wanted.
Our vision is to be an exemplar brand and trusted source for affordable sustainability and to show other small businesses that it is possible to produce sustainably.
We are constantly looking to improve the impact we have on the environment and we look to reduce this impact year on year.
By working in partnership with companies committed to reducing the global impact, we are able to reduce our impact on the environment by switching to more sustainable materials and garments as soon as they become available.
